Casa38 Review: Our #1 Coworking Pick in Long Island City, NYC
A polished, surprisingly spacious coworking spot with strong community energy, flexible work areas, and one of the better indoor-outdoor setups we've seen in Long Island City.
A closer look at Casa38
We first came across Casa38 while looking at newer coworking and office spaces in Long Island City. After reaching out, their team invited us to spend the day there as part of a sponsored review partnership.
As part of our partnership, Casa38 is offering Workspace Review readers a free day pass to experience the space for themselves.
Our review below comes from spending a full workday meeting the people, working from different areas, testing the setup, and getting a real feel for how the day flows.

First impression: very “if you know, you know”
Casa38 is not the type of coworking space that screams for attention from the street. From the outside, it feels pretty unassuming, which actually fits the private, invitation-style feel they seem to be going for.
Once you head upstairs, the experience starts to feel more intentional. There’s a Coca-Cola machine near the entrance that gives it a subtle speakeasy feel, and once the door opens, the space is much bigger than expected.
Inside, Casa38 has about 1,000 square feet of indoor workspace, with a private office to the left, bathrooms to the right, and one bathroom equipped with a shower. That is a small detail, but a useful one, especially for anyone biking in, coming from the gym, or spending a full day in the neighborhood.
The space itself is bright, open, and easy to settle into. There is a lot of natural light, plenty of desk space, and enough room to move around without feeling like everyone is working on top of each other.
The vibe: friendly, focused, and not corporate
One of the best parts of Casa38 is the people.
During our visit, the space had a friendly, low-pressure energy. People introduced themselves, conversations happened naturally, and it felt easy to chat for a few minutes without losing the workday feel.
A lot of the people we met were founders, small business owners, creators, freelancers, and independent professionals. That makes a difference. It did not feel like a random drop-in coworking room where everyone is just trying to avoid eye contact. It felt more like a small professional community where people are building things, sharing ideas, and still getting work done.
Casa38 uses an application process for members, and you can feel that in the room. The people there seemed intentional, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. At one point, we ended up having a useful conversation with another member who gave advice on a project, then everyone went right back to work. That kind of interaction is hard to manufacture, and it is one of the things that makes the space stand out.
Getting work done: easy to focus, easy to switch spots
After grabbing coffee and talking with a few people, we picked a spot and got to work.
There are several different ways to use the indoor space. You can work at a desk near the windows, sit at one of the larger shared tables, or move into a more relaxed flex area with couches and a TV. The layout gives you options depending on the kind of workday you are having.
For heads-down work, headphones on, it works well. The WiFi was solid, the coffee was good, and the space had enough activity to feel alive without becoming distracting.
The meeting room is also a strong feature. It is spacious, polished, and set up with a large TV, which makes it useful for presentations, team sessions, client meetings, or small group work. It feels more professional than a typical “extra room with a table” setup, which matters if you need to bring clients or collaborators into the space.
The outdoor space is a real bonus
One thing we almost forgot about until later in the day was the outdoor area.
Casa38 has another roughly 1,000 square feet outdoors, and it adds a lot to the experience. The outdoor setup includes lounge seating, a bar area, a TV, shaded areas, and enough space for people to work, talk, or take a break without feeling crowded.
We moved outside for part of the day and were able to keep working comfortably. The breeze was nice, the tents helped keep the sun from being too intense, and the internet still worked well outside.
For anyone who gets tired of sitting inside all day, this is a big plus. It gives the space a more flexible, relaxed feel than many coworking offices that are just rows of desks under fluorescent lights.
After-hours: coworking by day, event space by night
Casa38 lists coworking hours until 6 PM, but that does not necessarily mean the space shuts down the second the clock hits six. From what we saw, 6 PM is more when events and programming may start to take priority.
During our visit, there was an evening event after the workday, and the energy shifted nicely. More people came in, conversations picked up, and the space became more social without feeling chaotic.
This is where Casa38 has another advantage. It is not just a coworking space. It can also work well for private events, networking nights, workshops, presentations, brand events, and community gatherings. They can host indoors, outdoors, or use both areas together, which gives the space a lot of flexibility.
The TVs and presentation-friendly setup make it especially useful for founders, creators, coaches, consultants, and small teams that want to host something more polished than a casual meetup but less stiff than a traditional event venue.
Who Casa38 is best for
Casa38 is a strong fit for freelancers, founders, creators, consultants, small business owners, remote workers, and small teams that want a professional place to work without the cold, oversized coworking feel.
It is especially good for people who care about atmosphere. If you want a quiet desk, you can get work done here. But if you also want to meet people, have real conversations, step outside, attend events, or feel like you are part of a smaller professional community, that is where Casa38 becomes more interesting.
It may not be the best fit if you want a giant corporate coworking brand with multiple floors, hundreds of members, and a very standardized experience. Casa38 feels more personal than that. For the right person, that is the appeal.

Bottom line: our verdict
Casa38 surprised us in the best way.
The space is polished, comfortable, and much bigger than it looks from the outside. The indoor workspace is bright and easy to work from, the meeting room is genuinely useful, and the outdoor area gives it something most coworking spaces in Long Island City do not have.
But the biggest standout is the people. The space has a friendly, founder-heavy, creative energy that makes it feel less like renting a desk and more like plugging into a useful community for the day.
For freelancers, founders, small teams, and independent professionals in Long Island City, Casa38 is absolutely worth trying.
